Education

The graduate educational initiatives already underway will be further enhanced by the expanded R&D activities of MIES. NSERC, via the Industrial Research Chairs (IRC) program until January 2006, funded an IRC in fuel cells, with funding from Fuel Cell Technologies Ltd and NSERC continues to fund a chair in nuclear safety analysis with funding from the nuclear industry via the University Network of Excellence in Nuclear Engineering (UNENE)

In the undergraduate area a Nuclear and Energy Systems stream has been introduced in Engineering Physics and additional energy courses are planned for Mechanical Engineering.

The professional advancement of engineers through continuing education already employed in industry is served by programs such as UNENE which offers course-based professional Master's degrees in collaboration with other universities.
