After just over two years, the Gerald Hatch Centre was completed for the start of the 2017 school year. The new Student Centre for Engineering Students boasts two floors of student operated space, a new student machine shop as well as new space for academic advising and career serivices.
In addition to being student space, GHC is also the newest research space operated by the MIES. The space will serve as a living energy systems laboratory for the new ICE Harvest project. Over the past two years the ICE Harvest team has worked with both student stakeholders and contractors alike to integrate sustainable energy systems into the building for future research and innovation. As the construction comes to a close, the teams looks forward starting new research endeavours in 2018.
